Spaces and Services
The Debajehmujig Creation Centre features two rentable studio spaces, a newly renovated kitchen for meetings and gatherings, and a fully equipped green room with six mirrored stations and a washroom.
Larry E. Lewis Studio
This intimate venue seats about 80 people and hosts theatre productions, workshops, and cultural events. It is a key space for Debajehmujig Storytellers, the longest-running Indigenous theatre in North America, dedicated to preserving and promoting Anishinaabe culture through the arts. The studio supports performances like Maamwi and community gatherings such as the 6 Foot Festival, offering a creative environment for storytelling, traditional teachings, and artistic collaboration. It embodies Debajehmujig’s mission to nurture Indigenous voices and creativity.
Studio B
Studio B is a 24’ × 24’ space equipped with an 8’ × 8’ fixed projector screen. It is ideal for smaller gatherings and meetings, offering an intimate setting that supports focused creativity, rehearsals, and collaborative learning.
Recording Studio
Debajehmujig Storytellers operate a professional recording studio designed for high-quality audio production. The studio is open to all artists and corporate clients, and supports a wide range of services:
- Music recording (live off the floor or in isolation booth)
- Voice-over and ADR for film
- Sound design and post-production for film/TV
- Radio ads and jingles
- Podcasting setup
K. B. Reynolds Mastin Gallery
This multidisciplinary exhibition space showcases Indigenous arts, community arts, storytelling and rotating exhibitions. It serves as one of the core public facing spaces of Debajehmujig Storytellers.
Shiibaasing Lodge
Shiibaasing is a dedicated outdoor teaching lodge where traditional, cultural, and artistic activities are shared in a respectful, land-based environment. This space supports hands-on learning rooted in Anishinaabe knowledge, offering opportunities for storytelling, craftwork, harvest, ceremony-adjacent teachings, and community creativity. Designed as a culturally safe place for all participants, Shiibaasing welcomes groups to gather, learn, and create in a setting that honours the land, the knowledge carriers, and the teachings they choose to share.
Culture Hub
This inclusive gathering place welcomes people from all backgrounds to learn, connect, and create. As a host for traditional and cultural knowledge carriers, the Hub offers a culturally safe environment where teachings and stories can be shared in ways that honour the needs of the knowledge keepers themselves. Whether they choose to meet privately with small groups or offer sessions open to the public, the Culture Hub supports respectful, meaningful cultural exchange grounded in Anishinaabe values.

In addition to our scheduled productions, Debajehmujig can bring our engaging, culturally grounded shows to your school or event. Offerings include:
- Improv shows: The Debajehmujig Improv Group brings high-energy, interactive storytelling to audiences of all ages. Rooted in Indigenous humour and spontaneous creativity, this ensemble offers dynamic workshops and performances that spark connection, laughter, and community spirit.
- Nanabush Stories: Debajehmujig offers a dynamic roster of Nanabush stories brought to life by our skilled performers, sharing the humour, teachings, and spirit of Nanabush with audiences of all ages. With a collection of traditional and contemporary tales to choose from, these performances can be tailored for small, intimate groups or expanded into large ensemble productions.
