The Gift is an original play/story that explores the role of the Anishinaabeg Storyteller in contemporary society. Balancing the responsibility of upholding traditional teachings while freeing the creative spirit to explore new ideas and concepts is challenging and ongoing task of the storyteller. In this production, Artistic Director Joe Osawabine draws his observations and conclusions based on his own personal journey and experience, while his muses broaden the story to universal dimensions and ponder similar questions.

The Gift was first performed at the Holy Cross Mission Ruins in Wikwemikong in the summer of 2004 with the same cast of performers.
